Giving the gift of books

booksdonated.jpgTwenty five books were presented to the Sam Beare Hospice by members of a Weybridge church on July 20 who also donated a gift of £500 towards the valuable work of this Weybridge Hospice.

Sam Beare Hospice Chaplain Richard Chown gratefully accepted the gifts at the Fellowship's regular Sunday service held at 10:00am in St James' Primary School.

Midnight Walk 1.jpgMidnight walks are becoming synonymous with fundraising at Hospices and normally they are women only events.

The Princess Alice Hospice is always looking to do something different and that is why the first Princess Alice Hospice Midnight Walk will be open to men, women and children over 14 years of age.

Drivers who race around Weybridge risk having their vehicles crushed and seized, Police have said.

Residents voted anti-social racing in the Churchfield Recreation Ground car park on Churchfield Road the top priority for police to sort out at neighbourhood panel meeting on Thursday July 17.

The festival, taking place at Brooklands College and Elmbridge Museum in Weybridge, kicked off with a student production based on Grease.

Weybridge oak tree is worth £500,000

Experts have valued a Weybridge oak tree at £500,000.

The valuable tree - whose precise location is being kept secret - was pinpointed by Surrey County Council assets planning group and is likely to be in excess of 300 years old.

Art work on display

A photography exhibition displaying work from Heathside School pupils in Weybridge will be on display at Mercedez-Benz World until Friday (18).

Named 'Departure,' it includes photography from first year GSCE pupils as part of the Duke of Edinburgh award scheme.

Summer Sizzler.jpgThe Community and Event Team at the Princess Alice Hospice, is launching an exciting new campaign for 2008 with the aim of hitting and exceeding their £10,000 target.
After last years very wet summer, the team are making the most of the sunshine this year and is now calling for Hospice supporters, schools, social groups, sports teams and local businesses to hold a Summer Sizzler BBQ in July and August. This is a simple, social and fun way to raise funds for this wonderful local charity.

The "SUMMER SIZZLER" campaign is proud to have the generous support and sponsorship from local business and long-term Hospice supporter Garsons.

Radnor Road street party

A street party will be held this Saturday (July 5) in Radnor Road, Weybridge.
The event includes live entertainment, face painting, an 'X-Factor/Weybridge has Talent Contest,' and a DJ.
Residents in the street hold the event every four years celebrating everything from VE Day to the Queen mother's birthday.
They apply to the council for a Street Closure Notice and ask everyone to remove their cars from the road.
The event starts at 12pm.

Six mums from Elmbridge are organising a 'family fair' to raise cash for Sam Beare Hospice.
It has taken several months to organise and will take place at St Andrew's Church Hall in Hersham Road, Walton, on Friday July 11, 3.30pm.

Pupils at St George's College Junior School in Weybridge marked the end of key stage one with a celebration of achievement service on Monday.
The theme of the service was 'Ballooning Around the World,' chosen because pupils at the Thames Street school had been studying continents in their humanity lessons.
