Angie Phillips, 53, of Berkeley Court, Weybridge insured her Hyundai Sports Coupe at 11.30am and parked the car up a hill near her house, but to her dismay found it missing four hours later.

The 'Auction of Promises' will be held by the Wider World Group - which is part of the church - to raise money for the Sam Beare Hospice.

Hospital Radio Wey's presenter John Charman presents his 1000th programme on Sunday 21st September at the North Surrey Radio Station's studios at St Peter's Hospital in Chertsey. John has been presenting The Big Band Hour, every Sunday from 2-4pm and has charmed listeners with his authoritative and entertaining style.

John joined Radio Wey on 17th May 1972 and retired 19 years ago after a fascinating career, including 20 years as a pilot instructor in the RAF. He now spends time indulging his passion to Big Band and British Dance music. He enjoys swing, dance and big band music and helps run the West Surrey Big Band Society, which has developed a reputation as the best in the UK and has taken him all over the country.

Rubbish collections improved

An enhanced bin collections service one of the most advanced and comprehensive delivered anywhere in the country is planned for Elmbridge.

roalddahl.jpgPupils at St George's College Junior School paid tribute to children's best-selling author Roald Dahl on Friday September 12.

The year 3 youngsters from the Thames Street school joined children around the world in celebrating Roald Dahl day to celebrate what would have been his 92nd birthday on Saturday 13.

The Weybridge Society is hosting a recruitment week in late September.

The residents' association is looking to increase membership to 'keep Weybridge a pleasant place to live,' by acting as a watchdog for the town's residents.

Between Tuesday September 23 and Saturday 27 members will be manning a stand in Weybridge Library, on Church Street.

Dr Tim Woods of Maple Leaf Chiropractic and Wellness Centre, in Queens Road, is hosting an open day for children and coaches from Elm Grove FC, on October 22, giving free check-ups to promote healthy awareness.

The regulator OFCOM have granted the hard working volunteers of Hospital Radio Wey an FM channel to broadcast their superb variety of music & local information programmes. With a strong commitment to the local community and a passion to broadcast information that is relevant to listeners across the area the Chertsey based radio station will be pulling out all the stops from 16 October through to 12 November. The Restricted Service Licence is the latest step taken by this fast growing radio station towards a full Community Radio Licence. Radio Wey is constantly updating its facilities to meet its increasing listener base and this special broadcasting period will be a powerful mix of entertainment. There will be 'Live' acoustic 'local' bands & musicians in the studios and a live link up's with local events. hershaminbloom.jpgBlue Peter gardener Chris Collins presented the prizes as Elmbridge won awards in this year's South and South East in Bloom competition.

Churchfields Recreation Ground in Weybridge and Hurst Park/Hurst Meadows in East Molesey beat more than 200 entrants to win gold in the best park category.
