A removal firm in Weybridge has won the first ever national competition for Domestic Mover of the Year.

Luxfords of Weybridge, in Avro Way, scooped the top award at the British Association of Removers (BAR) Annual Conference in Brussels on May 3.

It was the first domestic mover of the year competition to be held and companies were judged on professionalism, commitment and leadership, and high standards of customer service in the domestic removals market.

Luxfords, a third generation family-run business, has specialised in providing a first class removals service within Surrey and southwest London for nearly 150 years.

It has 22 staff and 14 vehicles delivering domestic removals and commercial removals throughout the county, and offers containerised storage and self-storage facilities.

Director, John Luxford, said: "We feeling pretty chuffed to win the award and it has perked up our staff morale.

"It's been a difficult year with the lack of people moving properties but this has boosted our staff morale and our image.

"We've always emphasised customer service and customer feedback was a big part in the competition."

The Office of Fair Trading (OFT), a government department responsible for consumer protection and promotion of the Consumer Code Approval Scheme, actively participated in the DMOTY judging process.

This included finalist site inspections and validation of the scoring scheme.

BAR is the largest and oldest trade association in the removals sector, representing the UK's leading professional removal and storage companies all of which are covered by the Office of Fair Trading (OFT) approved BAR Code of Practice.

and Luxfords have been marvellous in making possible PROJECT PARAGUAY 5 year's running. This involves sending a super 40ft container from W & W full of aid that has helped 1000's of very poor people in that country.
